Every Elbereth Woodcraft product is meticulously handcrafted by an experienced artisan who’s obsessed with the details. Most of our products are made with domestic kiln-dried hardwood that’s been ethically sourced from industrial production shop scraps. From there, each piece of scrap is carefully studied for its grain aesthetic, color, and direction. This informs how it will be combined with others to create the final look and stability of the piece. Once the scrap pieces are combined and milled to a large enough board, templates are used to trace out each piece based on what looks best. If it doesn’t meet our high standards, the material is removed and used for other purposes. Each piece is then cut out before being sanded and finished by hand. Every rounded corner of our serving boards and trays looks and feels the way it does because a human hand and a simple piece of sandpaper is responsible for the finishing touches.
Ours is not a common way of making and selling wooden things, but we think it’s a better way.
